Good Co merge electro, jazz and rock with great success

Good Co have a classic, yet fresh sound that is part electro, part jazz, part rock n’ roll, and part pop. Music definitely needs more acts willing to experiment like this in order to get away from the stale mainstream choices. This highly energized band of gypsies are currently promoting their new album “Electro Swing For The Masses”, a 14 track collection of extremely hooky material. From “Tumbling Down”, a catchy but dark murder ballad, to the strangely hypnotic and hopeful “One of these Mornings” and the cool as ice “W.S.D”, there isn’t a miss on the disc. This is recommended for fans of Beats Antique, Chemical Brothers, the Quantic Soul Orchestra and the Souljazz Orchestra.

Cata9tales “Kaboombox” music video

Not typically a fan of anything “rap rock” related besides the almighty Rage Against the Machine of course, but this Virginia-based duo caught my attention recently. Cata9tales sites somewhere between Beastie Boys, UNKLE, and Public Enemy as far as their production goes. Heavy on both sampling and guitar riffs with some menacing bass lines too.

“A Chameleon’s Dream” features 10 tracks ranging from straight forward hip hop to rock, electronic, and funk, and they do so with great success. Album highlights for me are: Chameleon’s Dream, Kaboombox and Open Letter to General Adderall. The music video for “Ghettotron” is posted below for your viewing pleasure.

Soundgarden preview “King Animal”

Many people have made fun of Soundgarden over the years, but it’s easy to be reminded by just how damn GOOD they are by watching the below video preview of their upcoming Fall release “King Animal”. At their best, they channelled Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and they certainly have a lot to prove this time around. I’m personally quite excited about the release.
